Grooving The Slider (Roy "Bubbles" Burrowes); Happy Valley (Rueben Alexander); Black Up (Karl Bryan & Count Ossie); Heavy Beat (Cedric Brooks); High Locks (Pablove Black); Smile (Scorcher & Soul) // Adis-A-Wah-Wah (New Establishment); Shank I Shek (Lloyd Brevett); Push Pull (Pablove Black); Jack Johnson (Magnificent Seven); College Rock (Big Willie); Roots Man Hi-Fi (Scorcher); Down Beat Special (Sound Dimension) The 'official' Studio One response to the Peckings unofficial TUFFEST release - with a slightly different track list in a slightly different order. Just Mike (listed on the label) is replaced by Adis-A-Wah-Wah, the New Establishment's take on Horace Andy's Skylarking, and Consumer Sounds (Pablove Black) is replaced by a truncated Smile (a version of the Cables' Be A Man) by Scorcher & Soul. Although the sticker on the sleeve claims that this is 'Studio One Dub', a more accurate description might be 'Studio One Instrumental Over-Dubs'. Whatever, this is an excellent collection of instrumental workouts over Studio One roots rhythms, including versions of Burning Spear's He Prayed (Happy Valley), Foggy Road (High Locks) and Swell Headed (Push Pull), together with Delroy Wilson's Conquer Me (Heavy Beat) and Alton Ellis's African Descendants (Roots Man Hi-Fi) and Someone (Down Beat Special). | ||
