PECKING'S MEMORIAL
Various Artists (1999)

Studio One SOLP 109
matrix: SOLP 109

Ting A Ling (Heptones); Send Me Some Loving (Cornell Campbell); Wise Words (Freddie McGregor); Meditation (Rueben Alexander); Major Walk (Ernest Ranglin & Brentford Rockers); How Much I Love You (Owen Gray); Time Is Getting Hard (Lloyd Charmers) // Everyday Is A Holiday (Silvertones); I Don’t Know (Freddie McGregor); Time Marches On (Owen Gray); La La Means I Love You (Winston Francis); Every Night (Don D Junior); Bubbling Over (Lilly White & Sound Dimension); Last Call (Roland Alphonso)

Previously released on CD as STUDIO ONE PRESENTS TRIBUTE TO PECKINGS, but this time omitting Corn Meal Duckunu. If you've already got the CD, or the original Peckings vinyl on which it was based, then there is not much point in buying this one. Of course, if you haven't got either, then this is pretty damn near an essential selection - just take one look at the track list.

Ting A Ling (spelt Jing A Ling on the label) is the Heptone's original cut; Bubbling Over is titled Over Flow on the CD, and is an instrumental workout on the Full Up rhythm. Every track here is a winner, and a worthy tribute to Papa George Peckings, who died in 1994.

The cover is simply Coxsone's standard 12" card sleeve with a copy of the label stuck in the middle! Brilliant.
