Studio One SOL 2104
Who Say So; The Slammer (Enemy); Fret Not Thyself (Purple Lights); Holligan Race; Turn Back (Love To Share); Wicked Intentions (Lovers Serenade); Tell Me, Tell Me // Where Is The Love (Big Pot); Second Hand Love; Let Them Come; Grill Up The Love (Ethiopia); Hurt You The Most; White Squall (I Stand Predominant); Slow Down (Try A Little Smile)
An album that has been receiving a lot of good press lately - and deservedly so. Although it follows the familiar pattern of recording new vocals over old rhythms, this time a bit more thought and effort has been given to choosing more obscure Studio One rhythms to voice over (listed above in italics). Interestingly, Second Hand Love is a version of the Lee Perry produced 'Jah Is Mighty' by Bob Marley & The Wailers.
Winston 'Pipe' Matthews and Lloyd 'Bread' McDonald are in fine voice throughout, and the new rhythms stand up well against the golden oldies. This is an excellent selection by any standards, and a worthy addition to the Wailing Soul legacy.
