Gaz 'Rockin Blues' Mayall presents a tasty selection of vintage Studio One ska on this Japan-only release. The opening track sounds like a radio-show mix, complete with fade-in (and fade-out), DJ intro and outro, and a variety of sound effects; Call To Me by Marcia Griffiths is wrongly attributed to Rita Marley (as Come To Me); and The Sweetest Rocker In Town is more usually known as Rock With Me Baby. Stand-out tracks include Charlie Organaire's Rude Boy Charlie, the aforementioned Call To Me, The Soul Brothers' Soho, and Don Drummond's perennial Last Call. The annotated booklet contains some hitherto unseen photographs (check out Mr Dodd in front of the VW campervan on the sleeve), but the extensive sleeve notes remain unfortunately obscure (to me, at least) in Japanese.
