Money Maker (Im & David); Black Is Black (Im & David); Soul Brother (Im & David); Black Man's Train (Lloyd Williams); Great GuGa MuGa (The Boss) // Feel It (Jackie Mittoo); Mixing (Jackie Mittoo); Candid Eye (Im & David); Stormy Night (Jackie Mittoo); Soul Walk (Im & David) The original release is quite rightly regarded as a real rarity (at one time I was reliably informed that it did not exist at all, and then that it only appeared in a blank sleeve); it took me years to track down a copy. The catalogue number suggests it was probably intended as the 22nd issue in the UK blue Coxsone series (the sleeve carries the Coxsone Records' Willesden address). Whatever the history, it is a superb compilation of (mostly) Cedric Brooks and Jackie Mittoo instrumentals (the exception being Lloyd Williams' soulful vocal over the 'Back Out With It' rhythm).
MONEY MAKER2 | |||||
Money Maker (Im & David); Black Is Black (Im & David); Soul Brother (Im & David); Black Man's Train (Lloyd Williams); Great GuGa MuGa (The Boss); Feel It (Jackie Mittoo) // Mixing Jackson (Jackie Mittoo); Candid Eye (Im & David); Stormy Night (Jackie Mittoo); Soul Walk (Im & David); Ethiopia (Im & the Invaders); Saxish Walk (uncredited); Conqueror (Im & David) Reissued in 2002 in the original sleeve design (but on a Studio One label) complete with three extra tracks (the sublime Ethiopia is worth the purchase price alone). Conqueror was previously issued as Heavy Beat.

Money Maker (Im & David); Black Is Black (Im & David); Soul Brother (Im & David); Black Man's Train (Lloyd Williams); Great Gu Ga Mu Ga (The Boss) // Feel It (Jackie Mittoo); Mixing (Jackie Mittoo); Candid Eye (Im & David); Stormy Night (Jackie Mittoo); Soul Walk (Im & David) This is the second of the Yep Roc Records welcome reissues of rare and hard-to-find Studio One releases, complete with authentic replicas of the original sleeves and labels. The informative sleeve notes by Chris Wilson (presented on a unique Obi Strip) reveal that Great Gu Gu Mu Ga, credited to The Boss, is a very rare vocal outing by Clement Dodd himself.
