An outstanding collection of Jackie Mittoo solo tracks lovingly compiled by the Soul Jazz people. Subtitled The Keyboard King at Studio One, this set draws mainly on Jackie’s more funky organ instrumentals from the late 60s/early 70s, and includes several titles never released on CD before (most notably Oboe and Wall Street from the magnificent JACKIE MITTOO SHOWCASE album, and Get Up And Get It, Totally Together and Stereo Freeze from JACKIE MITTOO NOW). There are fifteen tracks in all (only four clash with Heartbeat’s TRIBUTE collection) and every one is a winner. Sound quality is first rate throughout.

The presentation is admirable, too - the CD comes in a slip case with an informative booklet, and new photographs of Jackie at Kingston airport en route to Canada.
