The Soul Brothers were formed from the remnants of The Skatalites, with Jackie Mitto strongly featured as composer, arranger and keyboards maestro. This set was recorded at the tail end of the ska era and documents the beginning of the transition towards the slower rock steady beat.

HOT SHOT SKA was the first title in the much sought after series of LPs released in the UK on the fabled blue Coxsone label. It was originally released in Jamaica as HOT SHOT, with a slightly different track list (Re Charge being replaced by Sugar Cane).
