Leroy Sibbles, Earl Morgan and Barry Llewellyn formed The Heptones in 1965, and quickly developed into one of the most outstanding harmony groups of their era. Following a string of hit singles (including Fattie Fattie, Why Must I, Only Sixteen, Tripe Girl and Baby) this was their first long-playing release, and despite the dubious lyrics on on some of the tracks, remains one of the truly classic rocksteady albums to be recorded at Studio One.

Fattie Fattie; Why Must I; Only Sixteen; Land Of Love; The Best Things In Life; Gee Wee // I've Got A Feeling; Tripe Girl; Baby; Let's Fall In Love; Take A Tip From; Cry Baby Cry

Jamaican issue in the same sleeve as the UK edition.

The album was probably released in the UK before being manufactured and pressed in Jamaica, but with a sleeve printed in the UK. Subsequent sleeves printed in Jamaica use the same design for the front cover but with slight differences on the rear (see below).

Fattie Fattie; Why Must I; Only Sixteen; Land Of Love; The Best Things In Life; Gee Wee // I've Got A Feeling; Tripe Girl; Baby; Let's Fall In Love; Take A Tip From; Cry Baby Cry

Jamaican reissue (with later repress on the yellow and red label).

Probably the first of the reissues in a sleeve printed in Jamaica. The Jamaican sleeves are not laminated, and there is a slight misregistration of the colours on the front. Also note the use of red ink for the artists' name and divider lines, and the omission of the London address on the rear of the sleeve. ((Click sleeve to enlarge.))

Fattie Fattie; Why Must I; Only Sixteen; Land Of Love; The Best Things In Life; Gee Wee // I've Got A Feeling; Tripe Girl; Baby; Let's Fall In Love; Take A Tip From; Cry Baby Cry

Jamaican reissue. The labels illustrated here are from the same pressing - other pressings can be found with either of the labels matching on both sides.

The sleeve is printed in Jamaica by UniPrint, which would date it to October 1971 or later (when United Printers changed their trade name). Also note that the rear of the sleeve is the same design as the original UK release from 1967 (although not laminated), with The Heptones in black type and both the Kingston, Jamaica and London addresses included. Fattie Fattie; Why Must I; Only Sixteen; Land Of Love; The Best Things In Life; Gee Wee // I've Got A Feeling; Tripe Girl; Baby; Let's Fall In Love; I've Got A Feeling; Cry Baby Cry

Jamaican remix with overdubs.

Track B1 (I've Got A Feeling) is repeated at B5 (instead of Take A Tip From). Most of the tracks suffer from overdubbed syndrums and muddy sound quality. Best to avoid.
