I'm Just A Guy; Let Him Try; Ain't That Loving You; So Much Love; Whiter Shade Of Pale; Massachusetts // Get Ready; I'm Still In Love With You; Never Love Again; Mad Mad Mad; Baby Now That I Found You; Why

Originally issued in the UK on the blue Coxsone label with a stamped matrix number. Subsequent Jamaican represses with the stamped matrix can also be found in the same laminated flip back sleeve. ((Click sleeve to enlarge.))

Even though Alton Ellis had been recording hit singles for Coxsone Dodd since the early 1960s, this was his first album released for Studio One (recorded shortly after his return from the tour of the UK with the Soul Vendors). Although it includes a couple of questionable cover versions (Whiter Shade Of Pale and Massachusetts, both in a rock steady style) it also features several outstanding originals whose classic rhythms have been versioned countless times since.

Jamaican reissue with handwritten matrix in the run-off groove. The sleeve design is printed on matt card by Speed O Graphic Printers Ltd. ((Click sleeve to enlarge.))

Same pressing as above, but in a screenprint sleeve printed onto thick brown card (its edges reinforced with clear tape). ((Click sleeve to enlarge.))

Jamaican reissue - note the different matrix numbers on sides A and B. This copy is in a thick brown card screenprint sleeve (its edges reinforced with masking tape this time), but the same pressing can also probably be found in the coloured Speed O Graphics sleeve.

Jamaican reissue in a standard Speed O Graphics sleeve.

Jamaican reissue in a standard Speed O Graphics sleeve. Note that the sides are reversed - side 1 plays on SOLP 0135 B and side 2 plays on SOLP 0135 A. The examples on the Coxsone labels are later pressings and the A and B on each side has been scratched out.
