DUB STORE SPECIAL
Dub Specialist (1974)

Probably the second of the Studio One dub series to be released, and certainly one of the strongest in terms of rhythm selection. It has been reissued and repressed numerous times in a variety of different sleeves, all of them collectable screenprint designs. Three pressings have been identified, with matrix numbers FCD 7380, DB 104 and SOL 1132. It has also been released on yellow vinyl (apparently on a red & yellow US label), although I have yet to see a copy.

Queen Of The Rub (Queen Of The Minstrel); Mo Jo Papa (Mojo Rock Steady); Message From A Dub (Message From A Blackman); Follow This Dub (If I Follow My Heart); Idle Berg (Skylarking); Musical Science (Money Generator) // Hanging On The Wall (Picture On The Wall); Love Land; This Race (This Race); Darker Black (Darker Shade Of Black); Dub Creation (Created By The Father); Life (Sad News)

The FCD matrix suggests that this is probably the first press (although this remains to be confirmed). The same screenprint design can be found on several different coloured backgrounds. (Sleeve illustration courtesy of Greg at Graal Records.)

Reissue in screenprint sleeve.
